Our coaching staff is made up of experienced, high-level instructors with extensive backgrounds in high school, travel ball, and collegiate baseball.

Charlie “Squeeze” Maurer is widely regarded as one of the premier high school baseball coaches in all of Florida as Head Coach at St. John Neumann. He is also part owner of the highly successful Florida Burn organization. He is known for his relentless competitive mindset and ability to elevate programs into championship contenders. Maurer has built a reputation for engineering dramatic turnarounds, instilling discipline, and creating a culture of loyalty and accountability among his players.
Maurer first made his mark during his nine-year tenure at Barron Collier High School (2014–2022), where he transformed the Cougars into a consistent powerhouse. Under his leadership, the program compiled an impressive 153–89 record, captured six district championships, and advanced to three FHSAA state Final Four appearances in 2016, 2018, and 2021—solidifying his reputation as a master motivator and strategist.
In 2023, Maurer took over the program at St. John Neumann Catholic High School and delivered immediate results. In his first season, he led the Celtics to a 23–9 record, securing the school’s first regional championship and state Final Four appearance in 38 years. His impact was both immediate and transformative, reinforcing his standing as a program builder capable of producing success at any level. The 2024 team finished 22-7 and ranked 17th in the State, while the 2025 team finished 20-13, losing on the Regional Finals. The 2026 team once again won the regional title and advanced to the State Final 4.
Beyond high school baseball, Maurer plays a critical role in player development through his work with the Florida Burn, a highly respected travel organization dedicated to preparing elite athletes for collegiate and professional opportunities. Founded by former MLB player Mark Guthrie and Venice High School head coach Craig Faulkner, the program has produced over 970 college commitments and 94 MLB draftees. His emphasis on fundamentals, mental toughness, and situational awareness has helped countless players advance to the next level.
Known for his intensity, preparation, and ability to connect with players, Maurer continues to shape the landscape of Southwest Florida baseball—developing not just talented athletes, but resilient competitors.

George Reidy is currently an assistant coach at St. John Neumann High School. He is a seasoned baseball coach with over 25 years of experience leading successful programs at the collegiate, high school, and travel-ball levels. He spent 8 seasons as head coach at Assumption University in Worcester, Massachusetts, where he worked closely with student-athletes in the competitive NCAA Division II Northeast 10 Conference. Reidy left Assumption as the all-time wins leader, including guiding the Greyhounds to a school record 33 wins in 2009. The team qualified for the NCAA Regionals for the first time in 27 years, the only non-scholarship team in the nation to do so. For the team's efforts, he was named Northeast-10 Coach of the Year as well as New England Coach of the Year. He was chosen to coach the New England All-Star game composed of the top players from throughout all Divisions in New England. During his years, the team produced over 30 All Conference players including back-to-back Players of the Year.
At the high school level, Reidy has built a strong reputation for developing disciplined, fundamentally sound teams. He has served as head coach at St. John's High School (Shrewsbury, MA), Naples High School, and Seacrest Country Day School, consistently emphasizing player development, mental toughness, and a team-first culture. Those teams had a combined record of 123-42.
The 2005 St. John’s team won the District E Championship (top 4 team in state). For the team's efforts he was named 2005 District E Coach of the Year. Reidy had a two year record of 39-11 with over 20 players advancing to play college baseball. The 2016 Naples High team was ranked as high as #1 in the state in Class 7A and finished with a 25-5 record. The 2017 Seacrest team finished 21-9 after winning the Regional title and advancing to the State Final Four.
Prior to St. John's, Reidy spent 4 years as an assistant coach at Brandeis University in Massachusetts. The 2002 and 2003 teams advanced to the NCAA New England Regionals. Reidy also spent the summer of 2012 as Manager of the Old Orchard Beach Raging Tide in the Futures Collegiate Baseball League, a premier college summer league. He was also the head coach of Cambridge Legion and West Boylston Legion Post 204 teams.
A key strength of Reidy’s program is his ability to help players advance to the collegiate level. Through extensive connections across the college baseball landscape, he actively works to place athletes in the right programs, guiding them through the recruiting process and opening doors for continued success.
Reidy graduated from Brandeis University in 1999. The team was selected to 4 consecutive NCAA Regionals. He was named co-captain of the 1999 team which won the New England Regional and advanced to the 1999 Division-III World Series. That team set a school single-season record with 33 wins and a 4-year record of 111 wins, while finishing ranked 7th in the country. A two time All-University Athletic Association selection, Reidy also was named to the 1999 All-Regional Tournament Team. While at St. John's High School, he was the starting short-stop on two District Championship teams. As captain during his senior season in 1995, the team advanced to the State Finals. At St. John's, Reidy also was the starting quarterback for two seasons before an injury prevented him from playing his senior year.
Known for his leadership and commitment to excellence, Reidy blends strong fundamentals, strategic insight, and genuine mentorship, preparing players to compete at higher levels while building character that lasts well beyond the game.

Terrence Reidy, a Worcester, Massachusetts native, brings more than three decades of experience and leadership to the game of baseball. With 33 years of coaching across youth, high school, American Legion, and collegiate levels, Coach Reidy has built a reputation for developing players and fostering competitive, disciplined programs.
He began his coaching career at St. John’s High School in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, where he also excelled as a student-athlete in both football and baseball. Over the years, his coaching journey has included collegiate positions at Hamilton College in Clinton, New York, and Assumption University in Worcester, Massachusetts. At the high school level, he has contributed to programs at St. Peter-Marian High School (now St. Paul Diocesan Jr./Sr. High School) in Worcester, Shepherd Hill Regional High School in Dudley, Massachusetts, and St. John Neumann High School in Naples, Florida. His extensive experience also includes American Legion baseball with West Boylston Post 204 and Grafton Hill Post 394, as well as youth and travel programs such as Joe Schwartz Little League, Mizuno Runbirds, and the Florida Burn.
As a player, Reidy was a standout two-sport athlete at St. John’s High School in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, excelling in both football and baseball. In recognition of his accomplishments, he was inducted into the St. John’s High School Athletic Hall of Fame in 2023. He went on to continue his academic and athletic career in both sports at Colby College in Waterville, Maine, where he served as co-captain of the 1992 baseball team.
Beyond the field, Coach Reidy has had a distinguished legal and public service career spanning nearly three decades. A licensed attorney in Massachusetts for 28 years, he served as an Assistant District Attorney in both Suffolk and Worcester Counties, focusing on gang-related prosecutions and homicide cases. He later worked as a Massachusetts Assistant Attorney General, where he supervised the Major Crimes Division, overseeing large-scale drug trafficking prosecutions. He concluded his public service career as Massachusetts Secretary of Public Safety, managing and coordinating statewide public safety agencies and initiatives.
Coach Reidy’s unique combination of athletic, coaching, and public service experience reflects a lifelong commitment to leadership, discipline, and community impact.

Greg Dombrowski is a former professional pitcher and accomplished baseball coach whose career has been defined by leadership, discipline, and a strong commitment to developing athletes. A native of New Hartford and raised in Rome, Greg became one of the most decorated players in the history of Rome Free Academy, earning recognition as a New York Central Pitcher of the Year. Known for his power sinker, elite command, and composure, he established himself early as a high-level prospect.
Greg went on to pitch at the University of Kentucky from 2005–2008, where he served as a cornerstone of the Wildcats’ pitching staff. In 2006, he helped lead Kentucky to its first SEC Championship, finishing the season with a 10-2 record and a 2.83 ERA. A model of consistency and control, he famously pitched 58.1 consecutive innings without issuing a walk. His performance earned him recognition as a Baseball America Preseason All-American and a three-time SEC Academic Honor Roll selection.
After college, Greg signed with the Cincinnati Reds organization and competed professionally with the GCL Reds before a shoulder injury ultimately ended his playing career. He transitioned into coaching, returning to New York to develop players at South Lewis and Rome, and later serving as head coach of the Sherrill Silversmiths in the New York Collegiate Baseball League.
Greg eventually relocated to Florida, joining the staff at Lely High School as a pitching coach before being promoted to head coach in his second season. He oversaw a remarkable transformation. In his first year as head coach, the team finished 7–18. The following season, the team improved to 16 wins. Over the following two seasons, Lely emerged as a consistent contender, finishing 21–7 in both years across the regular season and playoffs.
For the past 4 seasons, Greg has been the pitching coach at St. John Neumann. He has led the staff to two regional titles during this time. He is also a key member of the Florida Burn teams throughout the summer and fall seasons.
Under his leadership, the program has shifted into a culture defined by accountability, development, and competitive excellence. Greg’s experience at the high school, collegiate, and professional levels allows him to bring a high standard of preparation, intensity, and player development to every athlete he coaches.

Joeanthony Rivera is a highly experienced pitching coach and former professional baseball player with a diverse background spanning amateur, collegiate, professional, and international competition.
Originally born in Connecticut, Rivera spent part of his childhood in Puerto Rico before settling in Florida at a young age. He attended Golden Gate High School and later graduated from St. John Neumann High School, where his baseball career began to gain momentum.
Rivera continued his career at Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) before transferring to Barry University. At Barry, he became a key contributor on the mound, serving as both a Friday night starter and the team’s closer—demonstrating rare versatility and reliability in high-pressure roles.
During his collegiate career, Rivera earned All-Star honors in the prestigious New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL) while playing for the North Adams SteepleCats. He posted an outstanding 4–0 record with 5 saves and a 1.06 ERA, establishing himself as one of the league’s top pitchers.
In 2015, Rivera was drafted by the Texas Rangers organization, where he competed at the Rookie and High-A levels. During his time in affiliated baseball, he recorded a 2–0 record with 4 saves and a 2.40 ERA.
Rivera’s professional career extended beyond affiliated baseball into multiple independent leagues, including the Frontier League and American Association. He also gained valuable international experience pitching in the Czech Republic, Australia, and France. His global success was highlighted by being ranked among the Top 10 BBJO International Pitchers, placing #4 in the Czech Republic and #9 in France.
Following his playing career, Rivera transitioned into coaching and player development. He has spent six years as a varsity pitching coach in Naples, Florida, working with programs at Golden Gate High School, Community School of Naples, and St. John Neumann High School.
In addition, Rivera has been a private pitching instructor for over 10 years, helping athletes of all levels refine mechanics, increase velocity, improve command, and develop a strong mental approach to the game. -

Josue Rivera has been immersed in baseball since the age of five, developing a deep-rooted passion for the game through years of dedication and competition. He was a 4-year starter at Seacrest Country Day School, where he was a standout outfielder and pitcher. He was a key contributor on three Regional championship teams that advanced to the State Final Four.
During his decorated high school career, Rivera earned multiple District All-Star selections and was named to multiple All-State teams, solidifying his reputation as one of the top players in the region.
Rivera continued his playing career at the collegiate level, beginning in Division I baseball at Bethune-Cookman University before continuing at Ave Maria University .
Following his playing career, Rivera transitioned into coaching and has spent the past six years developing athletes and sharing his knowledge of the game. He is committed to helping players grow both on and off the field, emphasizing skill development, discipline, and character.

Erick Chavez is a dedicated baseball coach known for his consistency, strong work ethic, and passion for the game. A standout athlete at Seacrest Country Day School, Erick played five years of varsity baseball, earning All-State honors for two seasons and helping lead his team to three Final Four appearances. His leadership and competitive drive made a lasting impact both on and off the field.
After high school, Erick continued his baseball career at Dyersburg State Community College, where he competed at the collegiate level and further developed his skills and understanding of the game. With a strong baseball foundation and disciplined mindset, Erick brings energy, intensity, and a commitment to player development to every coaching opportunity.

Darrell Howery brings a wealth of experience as a coach, instructor, umpire, and former collegiate player. Known for his deep knowledge of the game and passion for player development, Coach Howery has worked extensively with catchers at both the high school and collegiate levels.
Over the years, he has served as a catching instructor at several respected programs, including Lely High School in Naples, Florida, Christian Brothers University, and Victory University in Memphis, Tennessee. Most recently, Coach Howery spent the past two seasons at St. John Neumann Catholic High School, serving as the Assistant Varsity Coach and Head JV Coach, where he continued mentoring and developing young athletes both on and off the field.
His coaching background also includes valuable experience in the prestigious New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL) with the Keene SwampBats, where he worked with Division I collegiate athletes competing in one of the nation’s top summer wooden-bat leagues.
In addition to coaching, Coach Howery built an impressive career as a professional umpire, advancing through the ranks to the Triple-A Pacific Coast League. Today, he remains closely connected to the game while working on the grounds crew at the Boston Red Sox Spring Training Complex in Fort Myers, Florida.
A Florida native, Coach Howery starred at nationally recognized Jesuit High School in Tampa and was a member of the school’s first state championship team in 1994. He continued his playing career at Erskine College in Due West, South Carolina, where his versatility stood out as he played all eight defensive positions during his four-year collegiate career. His all-around athleticism earned him All-Conference honors as a utility player.
Coach Howery and his wife are proud parents of four children.

Jim Spano is a lifelong Collier County resident with over 40 years of baseball experience. Born in Ohio, Jim moved to Naples, Florida at the age of one when his father helped establish Barron Collier High School. Jim became a state champion at Barron Collier on the 1997 baseball team. Jim was a four year varsity letterman in both football and baseball, where he was the captain of both teams his senior year. He began his coaching journey at 18 with North Naples Little League, later coaching at Golden Gate High School, Cal Ripken Little League, and Gulfside Baseball Academy.
Off the field, Jim’s entrepreneurial spirit emerged early—launching his first business at 18, blending his passion for leadership in sports and entrepreneurship. Beyond coaching, Jim has also spearheaded some of the largest companies in Southwest Florida throughout his professional career, demonstrating his capacity to lead at scale. A dedicated community member, he volunteers with the Knights of Columbus and remains connected to his community. -
Deiby Perez developed his passion for baseball growing up in the Dominican Republic, where the game is deeply rooted in the culture and community. After moving to the United States, he continued his baseball journey at Theodore Roosevelt High School in The Bronx, New York, where he competed at the high school level and further strengthened his knowledge of the game.
Since 2016, Perez has been dedicated to developing young athletes in the Naples area, coaching both Little League and travel baseball programs for players ages 11 to 16. Known for his strong fundamentals, positive leadership, and commitment to player development, he has helped young athletes grow both on and off the field while sharing the discipline and passion for baseball that shaped his own journey.
